Fraser Island is a World Heritage Listed sand island located off the coast of Queensland. The local aboriginals called it K’gari which, in their native tongue means ‘Paradise.’ Once on the Island you will have the opportunity to see Fraser Island’s amazing wildlife which includes over 300 species of birds, dingos, turtles, dolphins, sharks, humpback whales and much more. There is also an amazing array of lakes, mangroves, rainforests, sand dunes and beaches.

The best ways to see Fraser Island are by joining a group for a guided Tour, a self guided Tour, hiring a 4 wheel drive or by staying at one of Fraser Island’s Resorts or campgrounds. The only way to get from the mainland to Fraser Island is by catching a ferry or barge from Hervey Bay or Rainbow Beach.

The purpose of this website is to provide visitors to Fraser Island with enough information to enjoy their time and to be aware of the fragile environment they are travelling in. We also provide a tour, accommodation and vehicle booking opportunity and information service for those wishing to either book their tours or want more information on the island itself.

Fraser Island is truly one of Mother Nature’s wonderlands at 123 kilometres in length and 22 kilometres at its widest point, making it the largest sand island in the world. Fraser plays host to over half a million visitors per year and is managed by the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service. The Island is also World Heritage listed from United Nations Department of Education, Science and Conservation Organisation (UNESCO). Fraser Island is also an island with a colourful history. The local aboriginal community have passed on dreaming stories that have a strong connection to the island. There is also a history of European settlement on the Island.

Fraser Islands’ Climate is generally moderate with an average temperature range of 14-28 degrees Celsius. The average rainfall is around the 1.5 metre mark with the hottest months being November to March, the wettest months being January and March, the driest months being August and September and the coolest time to visit Fraser Island is June and August.
