From Rainbow Beach
Rainbow Beach is located about 2 hours north of Brisbane (about 175 kilometres). You simply follow the Bruce Highway north from Brisbane until you reach the outskirts of Gympie. As you come into Gympie you follow the signs and make a right hand turn. From this turn off it takes around 40 minutes to reach Rainbow Beach. Just follow the signs, go past the gold mining museum and into Rainbow Beach. You then make a left hand turn and it is about a 20 minute drive North West of Rainbow Beach to Inskip Point, this is where the ferry departs from. To save money, fuel your vehicle up before arriving on Fraser Island.
The ferry costs $65 return for the vehicle and all passengers and departs as required from 6.00am and 5.30pm daily. The journey takes about 10 minutes and drops you at hook point.
