One of the best ways to see some of Fraser Island’s best kept secrets is by taking a guided tour. These Commercial tours operate from Rainbow Beach, the Sunshine Coast, Hervey Bay and Brisbane. They range from 1 to 5 day tours and vary from camping ‘safari’ style tours through to accommodated luxury Fraser Island stays. Apart from the self drive 4wd and 4 wheel drive hire, all guided tours include meals, usually from lunch on the first day through to lunch on the final day of your Fraser experience. If you only have a short time on the island or are travelling by yourself, guided tours are the best way to see Fraser Island. 1 Day Guided Tours
There are several day tours available on Fraser Island, depending on both your budget and your departure location. 1 Day Tours operate from Brisbane, Hervey Bay, The Sunshine Coast, Noosa and Rainbow Beach.
Self Drive Group Tours
These are tours whereby companies put you into groups of up to 11 passengers. You are introduced to the group prior to your tour and given a full briefing on
- How to drive on Fraser Island.
- A rough itinerary for you 3 day of touring (tide times, road closures etc and suggested highlights)
- Dingo awareness and safety
- Location of campsites and fire rings
- How to use the supplied cooking and camping gear
- A guide of what groceries to buy.
These tours are especially popular with young, adventurous travellers. After the briefing the group goes grocery shopping and purchases any alcohol they wish to consume on the trip. You will be camping both of the 2 nights on Fraser Island and all camping and cooking gear is supplied.
PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION
- You will be required to pay for fuel, ice, cleaning, alcohol and food as an extra with ALL self drive group tours. This USUALLY costs around $60 (plus alcohol). This is an estimate only.
- Most companies only allow 2 passengers to drive during the tour.
- Drivers must be over the age of 21.
